Julia Roberson is a filmmaker whose career spans all types of media.  Beginning as a production executive, she supervised the development, production and marketing of over fifteen feature films including The Lost Boys, Clan Of The Cave Bear, 9 ½ Weeks and Short Circuit for a few of the studios in Hollywood before developing feature film and television projects at her own production company in a first look deal with Paramount Pictures as a freelance screenwriter and producer.

An award winning commercial producer, Julia has produced projects for feature film directors including Jon Favreau, Sam Raimi, Anthony Minghella, Sydney Pollock, Steven Spielberg, Lucy Walker, Scott Hicks, Roger Donaldson, Tony Goldwyn, Peter Chelsom, Wally Pfister, The Hughes Brothers, Francois Girard, Bronwen Hughes, Aneishka Holland, Luis Mandoki and David La Chapelle as well as commercial directors Matt Lambert, 32, Paul Hunter, Melina Matsoukas, Dan DiFelice, Henry Hobson, Max Malkin, Eliot Rausch, Saam Faharmand, Jeffery Plansker and Josh Taft for such clients as Apple, Nike, Adidas, Mercedes, Lexus, Cadillac, Fiat, Chrysler, Calvin Klein, H & M, T-Mobile, AT & T, Nissan, Sony, Honda, Ford, Gatorade, Coke, and Tommy Hilfiger.  Julia has produced doc short films for GM for their website, mycadillacstory.com featuring Wynton Marsalis and Russell Simmons as well as narrative film shorts for Al Gore’s Live Earth Campaign featuring Jessica Biel, Penelope Cruz, Tobey Maguire, Chris Rock, Emily Blunt and Robert Patrick.  Julia is also an award winning music video producer, producing videos for Mary J. Blige, Tori Amos, Marilyn Manson and Chris Cornell.  

In 2008, Julia produced a live, cultural art performance project entitled The Warrior And The Girl, for the Olympics in Beijing.  Julia also produced a feature documentary film for Steve Jobs and Apple, Uncharted – The Digital Music Revolution, shooting over 45 days in London, Paris, Berlin, Shanghai, Beijing, Kyoto and Tokyo.  She also produced the feature documentary film The Friendship Flight, following a young man’s quest to fly around the world in a private plane to set a world record on behalf of world peace between the children of the United States and the children of Russia.  Julia has also directed and shot additional HD footage of the indigenous Bushman San Tribes in Botswana and South Africa as well as intimate footage of snow leopards, tigers, lions and primates at The Oregon Tiger Sanctuary.  Julia has worked with Lucy Walker producing short documentary films for Target’s Sustainability Initiative and Kikkoman in Japan as well as Martha Stewart to develop feature documentary films to be produced through her company MSLO.

An accomplished screenwriter and member of the WGA, Julia worked with LeVar Burton (Reading Rainbow, Star Trek The Next Generation, Roots) in a first look deal at Paramount Pictures where they developed and wrote feature films.  Since that time, Julia has created several online television series including The RAW and Beautiful Pictures.  Julia is producing two of her own feature films that she developed and co-wrote; Initiation, based on the award winning book, Of Water And The Spirit, has LeVar Burton slated to direct and Laurence Fishburne attached to star.  She is writing and producing, Bending Time, a science fiction thriller television series that Julia co-wrote with Mark Vicente (What The Bleep Do We Know?) that includes an immersive science fiction VR game.  Julia’s latest feature film project that she has written is Trance Of The Kalahari, based on her explorations with Bushman Shaman and their mystical healing trance dance.  Julia has written a new 3D IMAX feature documentary film and VR project, The Legacy Of The Shaolin about the world’s most famous martial artists, the Shaolin Monks from China.  

Julia created Flowering Lotus Arts to continue to develop feature film, television, documentary, VR and branded content for clients all over the world as she has shot extensively in Africa, China, South America, Australia, India, Russia and Europe.
